Once upon a time there were these 8 villains who had dreams of sugar plums and Malta drops in their heads...Before...

...After

Now as villain groups go, this one was quite PUG-ly. And we know what happens in PUG-ly little groups of villains. Someone quits when you need 'em most. So without a RAD to hang their hat on, this PUG-ly group of villains fought on to their dream quest, knowing that fate was about to take a dump on their retirement plans.

They traveled far and wide. They even traveled into the future...

High my name is Planty, I like long walks on the beach, toons that don't quit in the middle of TFs, and hiding BEHIND the Hero's nasty Rain of Arrows.

...And faced many a foe.
They fought them all with valor and vigor. Many times, they did not succeed, lacking RAD-ical methods to DEBUFF their obstacles before them.

...Count the upright Heroes and then count the fallen Villains. COUNT THEM HA.HA.HAAAA.

Facing their final battle with such lack of power but no lack of SASS, they flaunted their best ASSets to their foes...
...and then promptly got wiped like a babies bottom.

The End.

We had fun but when the rad corruptor busted out the "wife aggro sry GTG," well the end was closer than the finish line. But we did well minus any solid debuff toon. Shout out to those who stayed, Brick Fist, Khoren, Boy Usagi, Planty Man, Planty Girl, Hoezai, and Seismic ummm...somethingor other (sry cant remember his last name lol).

We will go for it again but until then it was fun. Rock on Death Brigade.

Hey gang!

I wanted to check in and say hi. I haven't been able to log on the last few weeks due to work, illness, and everything else under the sun. I just wanted the gang to know that I didn't go over to the WoW side or disappeared into the 4th dimension.

Having read Az's recent post about running into Impersonator, the Elvis-wannabe scrapper who inspired our blog's very first post, I've been thinking that it's been about 2 years since this blog began and a little longer since the Debt Brigade first came to be.

I'm looking to open up the disscussion floor: what does everyone like about the blog? What would everyone like to see added? How about the SG in general? How is everyone liking there experience so far? Is there anything Grand Pooh Bah's or senior members do to make things better? Here's a fun one: who recruited you to the group and in what circumstances?

A lot of question but feel free to chime in on any of them. It's been about 2 years for the blog so it would be nice to have a retrospective/prospective look of things to come.

Personally, I think the blog has been great in fostering teamwork and a sense of community among our small but tight-knit group. We also got the chance to get see how we are behind the capes and masks which is always nice.

Anyhoo, sorry if I'm getting all sentimental but I guess that's what happens when you don't play for a few weeks ;P

Hope to see you everyone this weekend (away for the week for work) and for the upcoming Issue 12. We got some Roman-theme jerks to beat up soon!

Oh, some fair warning: I'm going to be harassing a lot of you to help me lvl my Mastermind to 50! I want to try the VEAT's!!! :P

The Planties upgrade, then lvl up, Caleb class 101, and a LRSF too

Well I found some Kingston memory for my comp dirt cheap (2gb for $40) at Office Depot while on an errand and said heck, I can afford that, I just won't drive my truck for 2 minutes and the money saved on gas would go there. So glad I did, our comp's graphics on a medium range graphics card (ATI 1600 pro) are simply amazing now. I put in some screenies of Brick Fist, Planty Girl, and Marvin the Spartan from Death Brigade hammering Valkyrie to show the results. Click pics to enlarge. If you have the spare change make the effort to upgrade your memory, best thing you will do to help your system out.

Meet Caleb, a single GM residing in Nerva. Likes: long walks on the beach, a nice book (of evil spells), and puppies (preferably with BBQ sauce). Dislikes: Mean people, the sun, and members of Death Brigade and their friends.

We also had fun spawning Caleb, not too hard with a nice damage dealing team. Need to take out 100 CoT Spectral Ghosts (any will do, minion, lt, boss) on Thorn Tree isle in Nerva. Must occur during ours of daylight. If you succeed, Caleb spawns at sunset. Tricky part is finding him, he flies WAAAYYY up high and is moving a lot. Easy to drop.

Well several of us want to get a LRSF together. So far we have:

Khoren, lvl 50 'Bots/Bubbles MM
Planty Girl, lvl 48 Plant/Ice dom
Planty Man, lvl 45 Plant/Thorns dom

Any other takers? Probably gonna need to be this Friday at the soonest. I have another out of town trip.

Spring is well...springing and things are growing, blooming, and flourishing! The DB base has recently had a new addition in a Mystic Orrery so there was a little bit of room shuffling that has taken place. Make sure to check out our new control unit and get a feel for the few changes made.

There was also talk of the new revamped Hollows zone coming up in Issue 12! Read more about it here in an article featuring War Witch!

Any interest in doing a Synapse TF this weekend? Level 16-20. We also have chatted about getting over to red side to do the new Ouroboros TFs and I know Colder is dying to level up a few villains.

There is still space on the remaining three "Intro to Base Raid" classes over on Test. I know Baba seemed to have a pretty good time with his new bubbler and I tried to adapt to being a support toon on our long lost empath, Dunizel! Thanks to Baba and Dotenshi coming over and helping make this event a success! Again, if you have someone new you want to take on a test drive base raid, now is the time to do it!

In reading through all the community feedback (US and EU) and player reaction from the recent announcement of Issue 12: Midnight Hour, the overwhelming consensus is that players would like to have access to additional character slots. With all the great reasons to roll a new character included in Issue 12, we certainly understand the desire.

We want to let you know that we are working on systems to address this community request. Our intent is add purchasable character slots to round out our existing services of Character Transfer and Character Rename. We hope to have this implemented and available shortly after Issue 12 Launch.

The Death Brigade is alive and well, so when you get bored of those all blue skies over Paragon, don't forget your dark side is a fun place too. I cussed out Positron for all the dufus changes to the game, like the TF/SF nerf, the economy system that is modeled from well, some bad idea. It worked, I got Hamidon Goo and Prophecy, as well as Freebird +stealth. I swear he heard me say I was gonna stuff my 21" LCD up his broad backside if I got one more Trap of the Hunter or Glimpse of Abyss drop at the end of a TF/SF.

Anywho, roll a mind/fire dom and be a FoTM, role a thermal corrupter and bask in glow of others flames (which you set), or dust off that ol' stalker and see how it handles itself. But mostly, don't be afraid to come on out.

This weekend, our wicked plans our being set. I have yet to see this Caleb GM in Nerva. You can spawn him but need help, and I plan to do so. Time TBD, I am gunning for Sunday right now.

Speaking of raids, the villains are asking for a rematch. Here is a thread you may be interested in reading prior to that event. :)

I will be hosting an evasion class on Wednesday if anyone would like to come at 8pm PST. This will help you refine your reflexes using Hibernate or Phase Shift. The longer you can stay alive, the better! We can also use some blasters to help with this event.

Raid Team Q&A

Howdy all.

Lets get the ball rolling on the issue of PvP builds with what our team should consist of.

Got Vent? If not get it. Talking to one another instead of typing will increase our potential dramatically. Az has listed the server info in another post below. You can ask a number of people (me included) for the password online.

A great big thanks to everyone who showed up for the RoA raid. It only proved to me more that with the right combination of ATs and solid builds that we can be unstoppable. The enemy we faced was totally prepared And is ranked #2 on the SG pretige list. We lost yes but with random ATs and very little IO'd. Their victory was not handed to them. It took them over 55 minutes out of an hour to beat us. A damn good job considering.

Melqar hits the big time!

I was priviliged enough to get invited into the closed Beta testing of the Manticore/Psyche wedding. I figured it was worth taking an extended lunch for! So I was requested to come as a villain and being that Melqar is tall, I figured I'd be able to see better. If you were unable to attend the "live" version yesterday on Test, this was a special event that allowed 100 players to witness an RP wedding by the devs. They transported us to Ouroboros for this ceremony and turned off everyone's powers. We all stood and watched as Manticore and Psyche took their vows. At the closing of the ceremoney, Lord Recluse and his goons arrive to wreck the special day and he turns on everyone's powers and PvP (for about 60 seconds) ensues.

So today, they have released the official comic and Melqar is all over it! Including his own frame on pg 21 where he's beating up Castle!

Riders! Fall Down!

That's right boys and girls! The Riders of Apocalypse raid is bearing down upon us! It will be this Sunday at 3pm pacific/6pm eastern! A true test of hero vs hero and our determination will be at hand! So download the new vent info and get on it and make sure it works. I hope you leveled your toons the way you wanted and are ready for battle!

Just a reminder, Sunday Night Smackdown is every Sunday (usually). I will be holding it at 7pm on the 17th! So if you want to practice with your peers, c'mon out. Arena is significantly different than raids, but still very educational!

New patch dropped today! Read all about the new monitor system that lets you see how your IOs affect you and other sweet stuff.

So what were the results of your double xp weekend? I got Melqar to 50 (#8!) and mainly concentrated on earning some influence on Azrhiaz to IO out my raid toons. Azrhiaz is almost done and Lumeir is next. I think I made about 50 million. If you've notice, the market is just silly overpriced, so if you have any low level salvage, especially arcane, sell it now for a tidy profit! A alchmical silver normally sells for about 10k, they are going for 40k now. Regenerating flesh I sell for about 25 is going for 10k! Stupid, silly people. They can throw their money at me, sure!

Here it comes, boys and girls, Double XP weekend! Either level those toons or make some influence for IOs! We've got some new friends in the SG (some of them are villains in disguise :wink:) so make sure to give them a warm welcome! I'd also like to welcome back Doctor Mercy who has been gone from the game a long time and has recently returned! We have new Vent now, courtesy of my friend Raid in the PvPEC! February 8-10 has officially been announced as double xp weekend!

Therefore, the raid with ROA has been pushed to the following Sunday 2/17 at 3pm pacific. Don't want to lose out on all the bonus!

Saddle Up, Hombres!

Good news! We have 2 base raids coming up! The first one will be with our villain friends this Sunday at 3pm pacific! Bad news! They just earned the fusion generator which is nigh impossible to destroy. My buddy Panther Pink Ink Man (stalker) will be joining them so you better not stand in one place too long! Great guy but damn he's a good killer! lol

The second raid will be with our old pals, Riders of Apocalypse! The good news! They have an IoP so we can earn a rare badge if we "steal" it! We also will have reinforcements if we need them cause many people will join us for the fray just to get said badge. The bad news! Well, most of you have already been in their base so you kinda know what the bad news is. Being the #2 SG on Triumph has bought them quite a bit of artillery. They also have a fusion generator so yeah, not gonna be an easy one. Debt, damage taken badges up for the taking!! This raid will be on Feb. 10th at 3pm pacific. I'm hoping by the time this raid rolls around, we'll have the fusion gen as well! At this point, I wouldn't mind farming for it a bit! Sheesh.

'Tis the season for raids! Please remember the base raid coming up on January 27th! Is there a time anyone preferred? I know they wanted to do it later so I'm thinking around 6pm pacific.

Melqar will be leaving Death Brigade for a short moment this Sunday to join our villain friends in a raid against the Furioso Family (villains). Over 600k prestige, I will not forget! :)

I will be running a Mothership Raid soon for those who would like to join me! Probably closer to the end of the month since I have NAMM this coming weekend.

Sunday Night Smackdown

Tomorrow night Smackdown is going to be held in Recluse's Victory. So come on out and let's try to earn some kills for the fusion generator! We *really need it since I was stupid and placed a gun down without considering the power it would consume. I had to delete a bunch of stuff to get the base to work (the gun cost me 5 million to buy the rad pistols so no, i wasn't going to delete it :P)

Please feel free to invite people to the SG. And PLEASE make sure to keep your toons logged in (especially you, Garl). No one wants to be part of an SG that looks inactive with toons never played.

Cmon Out and Play!

Big thanks to Azrhiaz for setting up a couple of great events, a PvP event in Warburg with Ex Libris from NCSoft and the Jade Spider TF, which is yet another great new content item for City of Heroes/Villains...I would do this TF again in a heartbeat.

The PvP event was great fun, and thanks to the help of good Empath (Generic Healer Guy!), the squishees stayed upright and laid the smack down.

I encourage all to join up for these, we have a lot of fun with them. I am looking at doing the Leviathan Strike Force for villains (lvl 25 min) and if someone wants a lowbie event on either side, I will be glad to help. Shout out if want something.

NEWFLASH! An extra bonus of prestige was accidently awarded to live servers again today! Woot! We just got an EXTRA three million!!

First off a big congratulations to everyone! The SG Registrar tells me that after the prestige boost, Debt Brigade is #18 in the top 100 prestige earners. Great job to all! Please feel free to use this information to recruit new people (especially those who want to base raid!) The base padders will be removed this week. Captains still have the authority to kick them as needed!

I am very excited to tell you the base is being remodelled and once we hit the 750 PvP kills, we will be sitting VERY pretty! Baba and Mrs K were kind enough to come over and test some new weaponry yesterday. The Rikti Plasma cannon is nice, but its energy usage might be a bit steep since it's recharge is very slow. The repel field *might be useful, but color me disappointed it did not work at all like the force bubble does.

Hopefully our next raid will be nothing like the last one. Suffice it to say, it was a disaster. I thank Garl, Colder and Baba for coming out and trying vainly to protect our stuff. We just didn't have the numbers we normally do so we were outgunned big time. New raid will be scheduled in January! After the holidays!

New Computer suggestions

The guy I get to work on my computer is paranoid about building me a new one. Mostly cuz he doesn't want me to yell at him if it doesn't work lol. He wants me to find out what a good motherboard and graphics cards would be for CoH. I looked on the forum but I'm not getting anything good either due to ignorance at what I'm reading or I'm not using the right search.
Any suggestions on a good system?

Meet and Greet

I must confess I had more fun at the M&G than I had anticipated. This is probably in part due to the wonderful company I kept in the amazing, gorgeous, lovely, insane Chica Vaga!

We got there around 6:30pm and the registration line was out the door. Fortunately, the bar was close and adult beverages made our wait less taxing. We got to meet Lighthouse and ExLibris at this time. The following is a photo of them that someone on the boards took since mine did not turn out. (ExLibris and LH in the middle)

The night mainly consisted of mingling with fellow players, an "autograph" event with the developers, a preview of the new City Vault (searchable online database of players' information such as costume, slotting, powers, bio) and new costume sets. They also had a Q&A and a big raffle. Chica and I did not win anything, but they had gift bags for everyone so we were happy not to stumble back to the hotel room empty handed.

We also went to the after-party for a bit with some of the devs and a ton of the players. I mostly talked about the state of PvP with people and drank Ex's Jagermeister. All in all, it was fun to meet up with people I'd known from in-game and on the boards, especially some of the Triumph Crew. They applauded very loudly when I mentioned I was from Triumph when I asked my question over the microphone of Positron. It was a riot. Fun times. Thanks so much to Chica for coming out and making it awesome!

Last weekend we had an impromptu Air Pirate Strike Force, and as always, it is a lot of fun. Starting one is always interesting when you have people from outside the VG and then the fun just keeps coming. Unique map instances (well for villains anyways), a cool AV, and easy mishes. Looking to run it with my wife's new villain, Planty Girl, on Dec 9 say 3:00 EST/12:00 PST, unless anyone else needs a better time.

I think we will be getting rid of the MUNST room. While many people drop off their SOs, according to the log, no one is taking any. So either tell me not to delete it, or help me empty out the bins by selling off the enhancements in them so I can delete the storage items.

Haunted House Final Days

Well all, we will need some volunteers to staff the Haunted House on test for tonight and for next Saturday! Only villains can staff the Haunted House, but if you have a hero you want to use, bring them tonight and try to make your way out alive! The Haunted House is a ton of fun no matter which side you are on!

Incidently, we are still trying to gain the SuperGroup badge for the third tier generator! It is 750 PvP kills in SG mode so get into the zones and kill some people. We might set up a farm for this in Warburg if you all want, where we can stand around and kill each other for credit! If we have 2 teams of 8, for team wipe, that's 64 credits (one credit for everyone on the team). We can bring a tray full of awakes to make the process go quicker. Just a thought....

Dec 10th Prestige Gift Awarded

Issue 11 is nearly upon us. As many of you know, the roster for SGs will be bumped up to 150 people. On December 10th, for every member in your SG you will be awarded 20k prestige. With 150 people, that amounts to 3 million prestige!

Suffice it to say with the cost of a fusion generator looming near at 7.5 million, that would come in mighty handy. Clever people have started a network for base padding. People from the community on other servers will drop toons into your SG while you drop yours in there. So I can drop 12 toons on pinnacle for someone and they will return the favor. After the prestige gift, all these toons can be kicked and we will be wealthy! So if you have slots left on Triumph and want to drop them into the SG please do so. I will also be getting a temporary trial account to further pad. Should you choose to help out this way, make sure all the toons have similar names (EG: Azrhiaz1, Azrhiaz2, Azrhiaz3) so we know who to kick after. :)

Great raid to everyone! We had 11 show up to kick some villain bootie and kick it we did!

It might have been me, but they really stepped up their game this time around and while they didn't function well as a raid team, they certainly made their prescense felt in the base! We did a pretty sound job of defending so kudos to all.

Round 2 led us into the Bandit's Brigade base and we quickly dispatched their generator. However, most of us, including myself, forgot to keep components to make pylons stocked on their person so we ran out. What a tragedy! /em kick self. The day could have been ours had we just planned ahead. But we were golden anyway and I'm proud of everyone who participated.

A few of us might want to build our toons a bit more specifically for raids, and Metoid might want to just delete his blaster and roll another scrapper maybe. LOL We also need some emps, I suspect, since we didn't have any. And a rad to debuff those dominators would have been nice. :)

They suggested Saturday, December 1st for the next round. How's that sound? And if it works for you, what time?

Well first and foremost, BASE RAID! Against our villain friends! Sunday at 2:30pm pacific/5:30pm eastern.

Saturday, if there's a bunch of us on in the early afternoon, let's head to the RWZ for a Mothership Raid!

Sunday Night, there'll be some "Kickball" in the arena around 6pm pacific. Just a way of picking teams essentially. Incidently, if you are looking to up your skills, the PvPEC has created a PvP League on Test. It will run for 6 weeks in January and is geared towards all skill levels. More information here!

NCSoft acquires full COH rights from Cryptic

NCsoft® Corp, the world’s leading developer and publisher of online computer games, today announced the formation of a new development studio in Mountain View, California. The announcement comes as the company begins a renewed push to further develop the City of Heroes® property, which is now 100 percent owned by NCsoft. Previous to today, ownership of the intellectual property was split between NCsoft and Cryptic Studios, the original developer of the project.

This means lots of good stuff for us players and a team that is devoted exclusively to us. Statesman (Jack Emmerit) will no longer be part of that team. I'm hoping they kill his character off! :)

With the advent of issue 11 and the supergroup settings going up to 150 members, I feel it is no longer useful to have the Debt Brigade Reserve, unless it's for absent players to park their toons. Since we will be getting a 20k prestige bonus for every member shortly after 11 hits, it will pay for us to have all our alts in the main SG. This does not mean you can let them languish however, so please keep them logged in at least once every 30 days. Colder, Garl, this means you!

What are we doing this weekend? A Mothership Raid perhaps?

Bat'Drool pwnzd again

Wanted to thank everyone for the great showing we had for Death Brigade (Villain version of Debt Brigade for those new folks) at the Tarikoss Strike Force. A Hero and an AV, man what more could a kid ask for? What a great SF. It was fairly easy going until the dreaded CoT map, but we managed to coordinate and overcome the issues. Smooth sailing into the final mish, where we squeezed Infernal for a few Behemoth spawns while badge slumming. Note in the picture above, Scourge of the Isles (aka Metoid) pays the price for excessive emote slapping of a Hero. Spellfrost (aka Marsara), then proceeds to protest the Hero's actions. Great fun and the East Coasters even stayed awake through the whole event. I will be posting an invite for the next SF which involves lots of Skyraiders, four unique maps not seen anywhere else in either CoH or CoV, and the peskiest AV I have seen yet. Until then, play in SG mode Villains!

Help a Villain out

OK folks we have a lot of scheduling to do! Az wants to knock out a Manticore TF and I would love to join in on that if it isnt too late, let me know if that is still available. Also I spoke with Colder earlier and we would like to line up the first SF on CoV side, lvl 15-20 for xp (min is lvl 15). It is very fun, heck most SFs are, and it can be done in about 2-3 hours. If you do the log trick it goes even quicker. Let me know what time is good for you all. Weekends are best for me but a late nighter on Friday isn't out of hand at all. Colder I don't want to do this unless you can make it so let me know bud.
