Next time you wanna do some arena stuffs when you see me on, let me know. I've been wanting to do more arena matches against people I know. Kind of like a bit more controlled chaos of base raids.
I had thought about signing up for the 3v3 tourny, but I really didn't want to commit to something that I was so sure on when I was actually able to play. (Hence why I hesitate when you ask if I would be at a base raid. I hate when people bail on me, so I just give a non-commital answer.)

Heh these Devs are really impressive. The PvP'rs have complained about the Arena for months and what do they do? Make City of Ebay for the next issue. The imbalance in PvP is a serious issue with folks I talk to. Either you have an uberset toon or you dont PvP. Just like the LRSF...everyone says it is borked and the Devs say ok, that sucked so instead of fixing it they press on with their agendas. That is fine but when they can't figure out why people are leaving maybe then they will get the basic rule of business...listen to your customers.
I would love to participate but speaking of uber toons, I dont have a lvl 47 or above PvP capable toon.
I went to test last night and it sucked...all the noobs are running amok and I had no patience in them not listening. So I am back on live for a bit. If anyone wants to do something on Test or has any questions about the new junk...let me know.
This event is not geared towards "uber toons." Azrhiaz has and will always be geared to PvE. Controllers will be just as important as damage classes as you want your *team to win. If the team loses, you all three get a loss. Then you get on another random team. Two losses disqualifies you. So there might be some uber toons there, but if they are paired with a newb like me, they might get their two losses whether they never died once. So if you perform as a support toon and help your team win, you could wind winning this without ever killing anyone.
This committee was also instated to see what the general consensus about PvP is really. If we throw this massive promotion with all these great prizes and it's a flop, the devs will continue to believe that PvP is not worth their time to fix/look into. Cages have already been "fixed" due to the committee's drawing attention to it. Who is to say what is next? So if you want to see PvP as a whole get more interest and get more dev attention, participate. If you're too wigged out by City of Ebay, then just focus on that I guess.
Lord Recluse SF is doable by anyone with enough patience and with just a few specific ATs. YOu wouldn't expect to beat most hero-side AVs without a tank and an emp would you?
I have only one toon geared to pvp, Zan..and really she's only good in base raids as a defense toon, she's gonna die a ton but her main goal is to keep the other team occupied long enough for someone else to kill them. :) I read all the cage stuff and personally it sucks, I don't usually cage someone repeatedly and it's one of my best pvp powers to keep that hard hitting toon off me, if they didn't want you to use it they shouldn't have included it in the powerset!!
OK Az, once issue 9 comes out see what UBER means in PvP. I met two guys on test who have 80-108% regen bonuses with the new invention crafts (in addition to existing powersets? Yea nerfs are already brewing).
My comments were the frustration with the Devs and these Issues (updates). IoP is broke. Arena--broke. LRSF--not quite broke but very lopsided. (And yes, I have beat a TON of Hero sided AVs without either Tank or Empaths). What do the Devs do to address customer related gameplay problems in the updates? Dump in a system no one was calling for and will change the core of City of X gameplay (despite all this BS about it being "optional").
Look PvP for me isn't a Grav/Empath, my only 50 at the moment. Lets break down what Grav Empath brings to PvP. Primary powers: all defeated by a breakfree. No damage output to speak of. Secondary powers: Hide and Heal. That is not fun when I want to be competitive and go for the kill myself. Once I get a toon that suits my PvP gameplay style I am there. I just didnt find it fun to run into a mob, hit RA, the run in panic to hide. Booooooring. Just not for me. Once my PvP toons I like are high enough, I am there for you.
You PvP Az with a blaster...you also are not the common player. You a) play a lot and b) are better at it than most. When I talk to folks in game the consensus is this either they don't PvP or they only go in with the typical PvP toons. I am starting to be one of the latter. So therein lies the deal with PvP...common players don't enjoy it so the zones are empty (or less occupied than the PvE zones).
Well I also PvP with my controller Baba. She's got the time badge in RV and in Siren's. She's no killer at lvl 30 believe me. I go in on teams and try to help. People eventually run out of breaks (especially in a 10 minute arena match). I won't argue with you that you *aren't any big PvP killer with a grav/emp. I also won't argue that he's probably not the best toon for *you (since you want to be a killer).
As far as me being "good" at PvP, all I do is go in and smash buttons and try to stay in the air as much as possible since no one looks up. Ahne does pretty well in the zones, but they are still hard for me (like everyone else). But honestly, the big PvP events being planned this summer will spell a lot out for the devs. If the interest in them is less than stellar, it's doubtful they'll invest any money/man power in a system that no one cares about. So 108% regen won't make a whit of difference.
I'm sorry you don't want to particpate in the event just for kicks. Maybe you can win a PL for 'Roo? :)
If the event will offer more than just high level toons, I am in. If it is for lvl 45+ I am hurting, I don't see my lowbies leveling up in time.
You sell yourself short Az, you rock in these PvP events that we do, not just with your Blaster.
Your controller isn't grav/empath, so roll one and get back with me. Not being curt, just stating the facts. Having an empath secondary isn't doing squat for me in PvP. I stalked an empath defender in Siren's one day with my Dom during a massive free for all. She told me all she does is stay in stealth mode run in and buff then run and hide. That summed up my play on Baba. Just not the same. If I had another controller set, I might find more to it, but when a break free ruins the whole show for grav, not much else to do. Sorry, it is boring for me.
And yes, I am grinding out my lowbies. I made too many of them. Because PvE is more fun than PvP. Uh oh. I just went full circle.
You forget I have an emp/psy blast defender. I'm not sure I was able to help anyone the couple times I took her in RV! LOL I was TPed Foe probably more times than I could count!!
