Failure Suits You, Hero

Well until our rads are PLed, the STF continues to elude us. Maybe Sword will take a break from RL and help us next time! LOL. I will give major props to the team for yet another valiant effort. The fates are against us it seems.

"Violet! Avenge me!"

I am happy however that I was finally able to knock out all my RV sig villain badges though. :)

Sister Pysche (20-25 for xp) TF, Saturday at 1 pm pacific. RSVP.

Indeed it does. But certainly not for lack of trying!

One of these days Mako is gonna trip over my corpse and then he's gonna get it!

Yes, yes, I'm still working on a write up. Life just keep interrupting right now. I have this habit that I need to take care of, it's called eating. :)

The post will go up, maybe even with screenies, if I can get it to where I like it.

I consider you guys the best players in this game in my opinion. So I know this taskforce will not be elusive for long. When you guys are ready to try again, sign me up Az. :)

would have been there to help out, bu rl has a nasty habit of interfering with my gaming from time to time. I should be more active on weekends now tho. (hopefully) the boss seems to think overtime is a bad thing, but he expects this nonsense done anyway :/

I've spent a few days now on the rad...just hit 34 today, only 11 levels left to go. lol I swear GW is going down! /e shakefists

Meg, what's more important...the write up or eating...geesh get some priorities! :P

Great effort as always guys. Even though we didn't get the job done this time around, it's always a fun time with everyone.

I'm disappointed (though not surprised) that rads seem to be the order of the day in order to beat this thing. You think they would have learned from the AT-specific nonsense of the LRSF.

Then again, maybe I'm wrong but it seems to me you really need a Debuffing powerset in order to take down the AV's.

I have Dreck if anyone wants to get some XP in on their Rads. I've been holding on to it so this seems like a good time to use it.

Get used to not having luck with this TF, it is a mother and as the dev Positron drones on.."performing as designed."

I ran a successful one a day or so ago with a kin, a rad and a ice/storm type--FYI Freezing Rain works just as well with GW as a RAD does. Anyways, we had no range damage dealers except one blaster. We had sliced through all the AVs until GW due to the usual melee damage vs a troller heavy team (not uncommon). We couldn't dent her at range, so out of desperation, we decided to bum rush her. All pets out, tank and scrapper inside going toe-to-toe, 3 shivs, and she went down in less than 2 minutes. Seriously. I have seen her beat 4 different ways, just give it a try, after all it is only debt at lvl 50.

I have done this TF now 14 or 15 times. I have seen it won only 3 times. I talk to a lot of people, this is a fairly common thread. My first several fails were on closed beta test when the formula for success was being worked out. Several other failures were due to a DC or a team member drop...getting past the 4 AVs is a tough challenge if you drop one (let alone two, had that happen twice). In all the team wins, and having spoke with folks who have seen multiple success here is a typical winning set, in my experiences:

Tanks: one is a near must but two is heaven. An Invul or an Earth tank are the popular choices. We have a solid Ice tank in Meg, he can tank as well, seen few ice tanks that could, so good for us we have Meg. I seen a Fire tank tank LR so they can do it too, but also not common to do so. However Fire tanks or any other tank for that matter, prove invaluable in covering towers and the spawns. Two tanks help cover aggro in AV battles if one goes down.

Empaths--again one is a must, two is heaven. Controller empaths are a plus they can help hold GW then help heal throughout. They need to know when to be a troller and when to be an empath though.

Debuffer--Rad is obvious but any toon with Freezing Rain is coming in its own. Archers with debuffs help as well, but in a secondary role vs GW. One hardcore debuffer seems mandatory at least but more than one will make life easier---beware though if you stack heavy on debuffs you still need damage output. Careful going nuts on trollers/defs in team building. 3 at most is my recommendation.

Damage dealers--Scrappers rock the house but are limited in GW encounters, however I was on a team scrapper heavy with only one troller--me. In the meek times I held GW, they rushed in and did massive damage and she went down in a 35 minute fight with her. Again,on that team we had one debuffer a pure rad/rad def, plus a rad blaster so debuffs seems to be a must for a winning factor. Fire blasters seem popular (dont know why) but I have seen many many types of blasters on the teams I have won with.

Last but not least---a Kinetic. The upping of recharge rates are huge for the team it helps match the AVs. NOTE: Not mandatory two of the three winning teams I had did NOT have a kin.

So a sample team build for a PURE Debt Brigade team would be

Tanks
Invul Sam
Meg

Empaths/Trollers
Baba
Zan
If Lumeir has Freezing Rain, definitely add her here

Damage Dealers:
Az (if not on Lum)
Colder
Monique (if lieu of Az)

DEbuff:
This team set would need a serious Rad type, atm we need to recruit. With the build I have here, 2 debuffs are left open (if Lumeir doesn't have Freezing Rain), we would add another damage dealer if we got 2 Rad types. This isn;t counitng a few of our other high lvl DB members but I just through it together off the top of my head.

I am sure our coalition has a good rad/rad type. I am friends with Scotch Guard, a great rad/rad def, he could help if available. So we just need to recruit a helper until we have an SG debuff type.

I am working on Bull's Eye Beetle a pure Rad/Rad def, he is a weee lvl 23 right now. PLing is welcome, I made him in issue 7-8 with the massive regen rate plus up for AVs--I noted our SG had no debuff specialist and wanted to fill that gap. So my intentions were good, but then the devs nerfed the AVs and I had shelved him in lieu of making a cool pvp Scrapper. I just shelfed him too soon lol.

Coldie set up a date for you, me, a lvl 47 and Dreck.

Our SG is one of the best, we just lack a key ingredient-- a hardcore debuffing type. We recruit some help or just make room for some in the SG. Either way it can be done, just need to build the right set.

I'd add that your also forgetting another big debuffer; anything/dark will have Darkest Night, the big debuff to the set which drops both accuracy and damage. A D/D will have the accuracy debuff in all of the set attacks as well. And there would have been more than a few times I would have liked to have the AOE rez facing either Recluse or the Front Four.

Food for thought.

Rads just get all the press. My first 50 was a D/D on Pinnacle. :P

I would edit my post to add Meg's great point, but alas, I can't, so I shall just say CONCUR! Any hard core regen debuffs are great but ALL the debuffs are useful, I dont know how i forgot dark, my daughter's main is a dark empath doh! Great insight on my oversight Meg.

Lumeir does have freezing rain, as well as tornado and hurricane, all of which are great debuffs. However, none of those have a -regen quality, only slows and tohit debuffs. I think if you can't have -regen, you need the power to outdamage her regen rate. We in our past tries have not had either.

If you want to reschedule this with Sword's rad, I'd love to do it again.

Sword has a fire/rad troller in DB, sadly she didn't make it for this one. I am leveling my ice/rad also (close to 35 now). Don't think Zan (elec/FF) is much in this fight, maybe chynna but she has no holds (ill), just the emp. I agree the debuffs are the key, but I get mad when you have to have the "perfect AT's" to do a TF. sighs I'm always up for the GW rush, hehe.

Remember they based this off of the LRSF, which was jacked up. This one is too, but to a lesser degree. Az is correct in saying a -regen is just about a MUST have. But if you lay on the layers of debuffs be it a -def, or -to hit, etc the odds tip to the hero side. What the goal of this TF seems to imply is BALANCE. You must have a a little of each. Our SG is slanted towards certain types of toons--our high end played toons are squishee with an occasional scrapper and tank. We now see a hole in the debuffs. Why? GMs you just do a mass call. AVs were always able to be beat down some faster than others. When RV hit we saw this problem, but were able to overcome it by multiple teams. In the TF you are locked down to one team and how you build and then play that team is what the devs went after. LRSF was a mistake in not making a balanced effort. This one has room for all but if you tip the scales in one direction too heavy then it will sting you. That is the bottom line really. So as an SG we just need to level up those debuffs or just ask a coalie to help out until then. THe bad news is it is a team of 8. But remember if we want to have EVERYONE come beat down GW and Co., well RV is always for the taking.
