The Coming of Cimerora

Well boys and girls, the game will be offline tomorrow morning for approximately 5 hours. Could it be the dawn of issue 12? Will Baba roll more alts? Will Az hit 50 number 10? Will Colder hit "Random" on another toon and be ridiculed once more? If you'd like to find the answers to these questions, don't look in this link because it goes to an article about Cimerora, from conception to final design. Or you can watch a nifty video on the Midnight Squad here.

I won't post about the raid except to say grats to all on a fine job of winning both. Baba's blogs are so much better than mine, I figure I'll let him do the honors! But here are most of us in front of the insidious, booby-trapped dimensional vortex!

Great job team! I was kind of worried for a bit cuz I was drawing their attention a lot and not getting any help (which is fine because it leaves others to do things like drop pylons and such) but couldn't figure out why we were not dropping more pylons or doing a better job on their generator. It seems we won at the end because our best strategy was our weakness in the beginning "Split Up". All in all our new group of pvp toons kicked large but however I wouldn't mind doing some practice stuff with the group.

Sorry I had to bail part way through but it was fun to play with everyone while I was there.

How did we do gang?

We were like 8 and 0. We only had two actual fights, but with all the restarts and DCs, we were like the shizzle. I forgot to get screen shots of all the action while I was clicking PFF and running. Turns out bubblers and Storm toons are NOT well received in pvp, and thus targeted heavily.

I can say this, the fight wasn't going that bad: Az only swore like maybe twice, she only had to chastise us on spawn point camping a few times (Metoid aka Puffer Fish of Doom still swears, "DUDE I was like 3 rooms away"), and Everyone had a grand time when we attacked vs the last fight where we were like +)*@#%(*&%#_%(* DOMS $)(*^$@!(_*% DOMS +$)(@$+)(% FING PERMA DOMS.

We were about 1 MINUTE!!! From dropping a fifth pylon on them. If we can just coordinate a mass drop in unison we got that tactic down.

So in short, I had fun, my wife was ticked her toon was public enemy one (hurricane = GET HER NOW), and my son made Az yell on Vent. WOOT!

Now if we could find a toon that does 45 kills like they had...

If we fight a hero group I think we will PWN.

We won both attack and defense.

The attack we won at the last second by sending in Magmar (the stone tank) to TP towards their generator. With all of them chasing after him, the remainder of us scurried to drop pylons and at the last second: VICTORY!

Storms and bubblers are real "I win" switches in base raids. Once we are a bit smarter in using them, we'll be smoooooth! I got lots of tells after saying "How'd you do that" and "People are leaving from all the repel powers." :D I know my favorite moment was defeating Ink Man and he stayed targetted when he went to the base infirmary. I thought "Well, hell, I'll go kill him again then!" Ran Lumeir in there and the bodies just went a-flying. I'm sure many on here can recall my giggle of delight in my infirmary chaos. LOVE STORM!

I think if we can get more people on vent, we'll do a bit better.

Defense-wise, well not much to say there. We have the booby trapped dimensional vortex (which will probably be scrapped in lieu of the tech version :cries:) and with Divine laying down the sand traps, Baba pushing people around, and Ebon taunting, we do pretty damn well. I know the villains were very frustrated - and rightly so -- by spawning into a security corridor with a slow field in it, that kept reforming after each DC. Oh and did I mention they hated the repel? Alpha Team taught us well. :)

As far as the killing goes, we just have to work on our blasters who don't PvP much. There are ways of staying alive and co-ordinating kills that work very well once you get the technique down. :)

All in all, we did pretty good. We gave those doms a run for their money bringing all the storms and cold powers (-recharge is a dom's biggest fear), foiled the stalkers, and I had a damn fun time!

Dry Icicle (aka Deep) had 40 kills on the attack I believe. He has worked long and hard though on his pvp skills with him. Kudos Deep!

With all the DC's it's too hard to tell how many victories we could have gotten when defending. It seemed everytime I terrorized someone they were doomed to die in seconds after. Too bad the devs can't just fix the generator bug. Although Magmar and I gave the stalkers fits (with cries of "fing taunt") I noticed that Pink Ink man up'd his game from the last time we faced each other. Good lord is he slippery.
It might be worth our while to put a team together and go to RV to practice. It's not exactly the same as a raid but it should give us the skills to get the kills.
